A Program for Young Adults
The Living and Learning Through Loss
program, (a registered charity), is designed for young adults between
the ages of 13 and 19 years, who have experienced a significant loss.
Many young adults in
our society experience the loss of at least one significant
relationship as a result of family breakdown, family transiency,
adoption, abuse, loss of health, or the death or serious illness of a
family member or close friend. The tragedy of loss adds to the normal
turbulence of adolescence.
Young adults
experiencing loss need to be supported to look openly and honestly at
themselves and the relationship that has been lost or radically altered.
Skilled support needs
to be directed at helping these young adults enter into a process of
healing, which, in turn, will lead to a willingness to invest in future
significant relationships.
